Dance Teachers



Kelly Harrison Ballet, Jazz

Kelly has been dancing for fifteen years and is proficient in ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, and acro. She is a native of the Hudson Valley in New York and has danced at several studios, including Northeast Dance Movement in Florida, New York. There she was a member of both the company and the competition team. Most recently, Kelly was a member of the University Dance Company at East Stroudsburg University, where she studied modern dance and ballet and instructed students in the Community Dance Program. She is trilled to be part of the staff at Main Street Music and Dance, where she can share her love of dance with the community.

Svetlana Ferdinandova Ballet/Modern Dance

Half Russian, Bulgarian born, Ms. Ferdinandova is a respected Classical Ballet pedagogues, she has an extensive background, education and experience. Trained in Varna Opera House Professional Ballet Class, where she performed meantime and later, as a Professional Ballerina, Soloist and Principal Dancer she also performed throughout Europe in other countries and various theaters, such as Germany(well known Elbe-Elster Theatre), where she was a soloist and later Training Mistress. Her education also spans: Three Years College for Ballet Pedagogy; State Music Academy- Ballet Faculty, where she also received her First MA in Ballet Pedagogy. After 2 years she received her Second MA in Ballet Choreography/Ballet Mistress. Her Professors were from Sofia, Moscow and St. Petersburg (where the Russian- Vaganova Method was founded). Her last teacher was Prof. Trofimova- pupil of Ms. A. Vaganova herself (Creator of Vaganova Ballet). Ms. Ferdinandova is a member of European and International Ballet Associations. She Attended more then 20 International Professional Ballet Seminars as a Dancer and a Teacher in Varna, Bulgaria, where in 1964 was established the First International ballet competition in the world for Professional Classical Ballet Dancers, where she participated in its organization for several years. Mr. Jordanov-the Founder of Varna Ballet Competition was Ms.Ferdinandova's First Ballet Teacher. Ms. Ferdinandova is also a Proficient Piano Player, and Fluent in Bulgarian, Russian, English, German, uses French. After more then 28 years in teaching Ballet in Europe and USA, using Ballet Method and Pedagogy and the experience she has as a dancer and a teacher, gives her the greatest opportunity to reach the student's world and their souls and teach them to fall in love with the Dance/Ballet.

Laura Martel Tumbling, Acro-dance, Ballet

Laura Martel has been dancing since she was three years old. She began her formal ballet training at the New Paltz School of Ballet, and became a principal member of the New Paltz Ballet Company at the age of thirteen. She performed annually in such productions as The Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, Firebird,and Coppelia where she shared the stage with members of the New York City Ballet, including Nilas Martins, Wendy Whelan, and Miranda Weese. Her training includes numerous professional ballet-intensive programs across the United States and Europe.

At the age of seventeen, Laura moved to Prague, Czech Republic, where she studied contemporary dance under the direction of Lynn Barr and performed throughout Eastern Europe.

Laura then returned home to her native state of New York to attend NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Dance Residency Program and currently teaches dance at various studios across New York and California. At Main Street Studio, Laura teaches tumbling, acro-dance, and ballet.

Brianna Canto Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe

Hi my name is Brianna Canto. I am currently attending Mount Saint Mary College pursuing my childhood education degree. I have been dancing for the past 15 years performing tap, jazz, ballet, and pointe. I have taught prior to this school with the younger dancers and now have been given the wonderful opportunity of teaching again. I am excited to help others and be part of this team.

Brenna Cooney Jazz, Hip Hop

Brenna just recently graduated from Mount Saint Mary College with a degree in Public Relations. She has been dancing for many years recreationally and competitively. She was also a captain, public relations officer, on Mount Saint Mary College's dance team her senior year. She is also involved in theater.

Stephany DePaula Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Jazz, Acrobatics

Stephany DePaula began dancing at the age of 14 where she was accepted into a company dance program, where she trained in all styles of dance and was able to graduate from high school to go straight into training to become a dance teacher at the same studio she trained as a student. She has been teaching as a recreational and competition teacher since 2012 and has been a regional and national Dance Xplosion Competition Tour winning choreographer for the last 3 years focusing in hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, and acrobatics. She has worked back stage at the world famous Lincoln Center in New York City and has performed as a back up dancer for local Hudson Valley artist for 2 years and looks forward to teaching new students every year and helping them advance in all areas of dance.
